New terms this week:
- Online Predator: a commonly used term for someone who uses the Internet to develop appropriate relationships with kids or teens.
- Risky: potentially harmful to one’s emotional or physical well-being
- Manipulate: trying to influence someone to do something they might not otherwise do, for one’s own benefit.
- Stereotype: a popular belief about a group of people, based on assumptions that are often false.
One of the new web 2.0 tools I learned to use is BrainShark. Brainshark is a website where you can upload your presentation and add sound. You can speak for your presentations and not even be there to present it. If you hate talking for a presentation in front of everyone this website really helps. Another idea, if you can stand up in front of everyone but you can't talk, try and lip-sync to what you say on the presentation.
Brainshark is a nice tool to have to promote your business or to present to your class but some teachers or bosses will not allow this, which is a negative. A positive is that you don't have to speak in front of anyone, your presentation does it for you.
I'm going to make sure I don't do anything I regret on the computer or send anything without someones permission. I am going to use the Internet properly and not do anything that could hurt me or anyone around me. I'm not going to base people off of stereotypes or tell anyone that I don't know personally my personal information.
